Also present was Frank Graham, Fox & Jacobs; Alderman Linda Adams, Mayor Bill Longo and Janice Carroll, City Secretary. Member Bob Brown and Member Mark Crow were given their Oath of Office by Mayor Longo. Members Brown, Crow and Bock had been appointed at the April 17, 1978 City Council meeting to serve for a two year term on the Planning & Zoning Commission. It was agreed that Member Bock would be sworn in prior to the Public Hearing scheduled for May 6, 1978. Member Crow moved that the minutes of the regular meeting held on April 4, 1978 be approved as written. Member Turner seconded the motion. The motion was carried by the following vote: Ayes: All Members Present Voted Aye Noes: None Prior to continuing to agenda item three, the commission discussed their progress with the recently elected Mayor Longo. Chairman Hunsicker offered to call and visit with each Council member to bring them up to date with the work done by the Planning and Zoning Commission. Agenda item number three was further review and study of the Zoning Ordinance for the City of The Colony. Member Crow stated that he had been studying the Master Land Use Plan prepared by Schrieckel & Rollins, and he felt that many of the zoning districts and definitions used in the Dallas zoning ordinance did not relate to The Colony nor did they coincide with the uses outlined by the Master Plan. Member Crow felt that the uses are too broad in the proposed ordinance. There followed a lengthy discussion relative to this. Frank Graham stated that this commission does not zone but recommends to the City Council. Other commission members were concerned with the necessity of getting a zoning ordinance prepared to present to the City Council as soon as possible. They were concerned that the commission did not have the time to do the reviewing necessary for this coordination effort. Frank Graham said that he was in agreement with the Zoning district designated as neighborhood service, and that it should be included in the proposed zoning ordinance. Member Turner agreed that the commission must do some further work on the definitions in the ordinance. The commission did not come to a specific agreement at this meeting as to their future work on the zoning ordinance. Chairman Hunsicker reminded the commission of the Public Hearing to be held on May 6, 1978 relative to a zoning change request. -1- There being no further action to be taken by the commission, Member Brown moved that the meeting be adjourned. Member Turner seconded the motion. The motion was carried by the following vote: Ayes: All Members Present Voted Aye Noes: None The meeting was adjourned. S~3~etary
