HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/11/78 P&Z MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION CITY OF THE COLONY APRIL 11, 1978 STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF DENTON The Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of The Colony, Denton County, Texas convened in Regular Session, open to the public, at the City Hall of the City of The Colony, Denton County, Texas at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 11, 1978, and the roll was called of the members of the Commission to wit: Harry Hun$icker Chairman Bob Brown Member Mark Crow Member Lloyd Hodges Member Richard Turner Member and all members were present with the exception of Member Hodges. Also present was Janice Carroll, Secretary. 1. Minutes of previous meeting were approved unanimously. 2. Report of Fox & Jacobs presented. Preliminary plats of Sections 19, 20, 21 and 22 - total of 1,260 lots were presented for review of the Commission. Preliminary plats were unanimously approved on motion by Mr. Brown and seconded by Mr. Crow. 3. Final approval of Fox & Jacobs Section 16 was made including the Neighborhood Green Concept. Mr. Reese Brown of Fox & Jacobs indicated it was Fox & Jacobs intention to accept the responsibility for the installation and initial maintenance of the neighborhood green. He also said that if this concept needed to be torn out within the first two or three years Fox & Jacobs would do it and repair the street. Final plat was unanimously accepted on motion by Mr. Turner, seconded by Mr. Crow. 4. Fox & Jacobs' request that 1.6 acres north of Strickland Circle be rezoned from residential to residential special permit to permit construc- tion of a day care center was unanimously approved upon a motion made by Mr. Crow and seconded by Mr. Turner with Mr. Hunsicker abstaining. 5. Preliminary request for re-zoning 10.573 acres at the southeast corner of FM #423 and South Colony Boulevard was presented and unanimously approved upon a motion by Mr. Turner and seconded by Mr. Crow, with Mr. Hunsicker abstaining. The items covered on this tract are: A) .44 Acres (+ or -) on the west side of Branch Hollow across from the Baptist Church from R to R Special Permit to permit construction of a day care center. B) 1.2 Acres (+ or -) surrounding Colony Blvd. from R to 01 to permit the construction of a bank, savings and loan and ot~er of--~ices. C) 8.845 acres (+ or -) south from the existing Stop-N-Go from residential to general retail to permit construction of a car wash behind the existing Stop-N-Go and fast food outlets south of the existing Stop-N-Go. 6. The chairman reported that he had recommended to the new council that Mr. Brown, Mrs. Bock, and Mr. Crow be re-appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission following the expiration of their present one year term. -1-
