THURSDAY, MARCH 28th, 2024
After determining that a quorum was present, the Keep The Colony Beautiful Board of the City
of The Colony, Texas convened into a regular session that was held on Thursday, March 28,
2024 in the City Council Conference located in City Hall, 6800 Main Street, The Colony, Texas,
at which time the following items were addressed:
Board Members Present: Chairman Chris Benson, Secretary Jane Hughey, Cris Luce,
Jenna Nowlin.
Board Members not Present: Vice Chairman Cody Carpenter, Lubna Rizvi,
Pamela De Santiago
Staff Member Present: Danny Dill, Community Outreach Officer
1.0 CALL TO ORDER
Meeting called to order at 6:02 p.m.
2.0 CITIZENS INPUT
None
3.0 MINUTES
3.1 Approve minutes from February 26, 2024 meeting
Motion to approve the minutes made by board secretary Hughey, second by board
member Luce. Motion carried 4-0.
4.0 DISCUSSION AND CONSIDERATION
4.1 Discuss participation in The Colony Summer Kickoff
1) President Benson requested more information on this event before discussion.
2) Community Outreach Officer Dill will obtain more information.
3) Board Secretary Hughey made a motion to table the discussion second by board
member Chris Luce.
4.2 Discuss Spring Cleanup
1) Board member Jenna Nowlin stated that the event would be April 20th at Stewart's
Creek Park trailhead and Ridgepoint Park trailhead.
2) Elementary schools Carney, Ethridge, Stewart's Creek, Lakeview Middle School,
The Colony High School are assigned to the Stewart's Creek trailhead.
3) Elementary schools Peters Colony, Morningside, and BB Owen and Griffin Middle
School are assigned to the Ridgepoint trailhead.
4) Strike Middle School and the elementary school in The Tribute will be contacted to
invite them to participate.
4) Parents of elementary age students are encouraged to attend to monitor their child.
5) Turn around point of both trailheads approximately at the half -way point.
6) A flyer will be distributed to all schools.
7) A safety talk regarding the trail and possible wildlife will be given before the start
of the trail entry.
4.3 That's So TC Recycle Art Contest
Board member Jenna Nowlin stated that:
1) The Ethridge Elementary Art Teacher is presenting the project to her bosses and
other teachers in The Colony (elementary, middle, and high school) and Strike
Middle School (it is physically located in The Colony).
2) The theme is "That's so TC" — what The Colony means to you. No vulgarity
allowed.
3) Promoting will be started at the end of this school year to be completed in
December next school year.
4) The Annex is reserved for December 6 for Contest Set up (can start at 4pm) and
December 7 for Judging/Viewing (from 8am to 4:30pm)
5) Judges TBD.
6) Board member Chris Luce' company, Smart Sort Al, will be donating $1000 to
prizes. He stated that he possibly can get Coke and AT&T involved.
7) Prizes for first place and runner up will be given in 4 categories: Elementary
School, Middle School, High School, and Adults.
8) Board member Nowlin stated that flyers will be distribution by the end of April.
4.4 Board to provide direction to staff regarding future agenda items.
1) TC Summer kick-off on June 1 with advertising, booth, etc.
2) Raptor event on May 9, setup 4:00-4:30 pm with seating for 60.
3) Arbor Day event on May 4.

Motion made by board member Chris Luce to adjourn the meeting, seconded by board
member Jenna.Nowlin. Meeting adjourned at 6:42 p.m.
