MINUTES
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 28TH , 2023
After determining that a quorum was present, the Keep The Colony Beautiful Board of the City
of The Colony, Texas convened into a regular session that was held on Thursday, September
28th, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located in City Hall, 6800 Main Street,
The Colony, Texas, at which time the following items were addressed:
Board Members Present: Christopher Benson; Cris Luce; Jenna Nowlin;
Pam De Santiago; Jane Hughey
Board Members not Present: Lubna Rizvi; Cody Carpenter
Staff Members Present: Iris Browder Community Image Director; Danny Dill, Community
Outreach Officer;
1.0 1 CALL TO ORDER
Meeting called to order at 6:00 p.m.
2.0 CITIZENS INPUT
None.
3.0 1 MINUTES
3.1 Approve Minutes from July 2711, 2023 meeting.
Motion to approve the minutes made by board member Nowlin and seconded by
Secretary Luce. Motion carried 5-0.
4.0 1 DISCUSSION AND CONSIDERATION
4.1 Discuss the fall food drive. (De Santiago)
Board member De Santiago updated the board that the food drive for Lovepacs
will be on 11/4 from 8-10 at City Hall. Love packs will provide a list of needed
items. That list will be given to Officer Dill so it can be published on city
newsletter and social media. Board member Hughey will ask the community
center to add this information on their sign.
4.2 Discuss the fall cleanup. (Nowlin)
Areas for the 11/4 fall cleanup will be Turner Soccer Fields and 5 Star Park water
way and will be from 8-10am. Board member Nowlin is working with someone
to get a flyer to distribute to the schools. Officer Dill will have the city
communications department post about the cleanup.
4.3 Evaluate and assess for KTCB to become independent from the city. (Staff)
Board members discussed with staff what the possibilities of the board becoming
an independent affiliate would looks like. After discussing options, Secretary
Luce made a motion to not become an independent affiliate organization and
keep KTCB as is. Board member Nowlin seconded the motion. Motion carried
5-0.
4.3 Board to provide direction to stag regarding future agenda items.
Secretary Luce resigned as secretary of the board. Discuss a planter strategy for
the planters at city hall. What type of flowers? Monthly maintenance schedule
assignment starting in the spring. Board will discuss calendar events for 2024.
Board will discuss logistics for the fall cleanup.
