HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Keep The Colony Beautiful - 10/26/2023 - RegularKEEP THE COLONY BEAUTIFUL BOARD MEETING MINUTES THURSDAY, OCTOBER 26TH, 2023 After determining that a quorum was present, the Keep The Colony Beautiful Board of the City of The Colony, Texas convened into a regular session that was held on Thursday, October 26t", 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located in City Hall, 6800 Main Street, The Colony, Texas, at which time the following items were addressed: Board Members Present: Christopher Benson; Cris Luce; Jenna Nowlin; Pam De Santiago; Jane Hughey; Lubna Rizvi. Board Members not Present: Cody Carpenter Staff Members Present: Iris Browder Community Image Director; 1.0 1 CALL TO ORDER Meeting called to order at 6:02 p.m. 2.0 CITIZENS INPUT None. 3.0 1 MINUTES 3.1 Approve Minutes from July 2711, 2023 meeting. Motion to approve the minutes made by board member Luce and seconded by Nowlin. Motion carried 6-0. 4.0 1 DISCUSSION AND CONSIDERATION 4.1 Discuss the fall cleanup. (Nowlin) Officer Dill and Browder have supplies and will distribute to the two locations (Turner Fields and 5 Star Park). Supplies consist of water, volunteer forms, hand sanitizer, bug spray, misc. Staff will supply doughnuts & kolaches, juice. Tables from Nowlin. 5 Star Park parking will be by baseball fields because of the Veterans day the next weekend. City requested that side cleaned first (off Blair Oaks by High School). Nowlin will contact Jackie/Lyndsey to coordinate. 4.2 Discuss City hall planter strategy. (staff) Action points: 1) Officer Dill will order flowers 2) Set Date to plant in spring (March or April?) 3) Planter maintenance dates will be maximum March through November 4) Do we have group of older students (some planters are close to road) who would like to get service hours to maintain 5) Suggestion made to put in electronic newsletter asking for volunteers 6) No action plan was developed. Ideas only 4.3 KTCB sponsored events for 2024. (staff) 1) Officer Dill will set up a presentation from Cheryl with Republic about a student advisory board. 2) Discussed Raptor and Owl & Howl Prowl as two possible events 3) Other ideas were discussed and how many we should do. 4.5 Election of KTCB secretary. (staff) Jane Hughey was nominated; she will assume the position on a trial interim basis. 4.5 Board to provide direction to staff regarding future agenda items. 1) Board seems to lean to wanting to schedule a work session. 2) Pam De Santiago presented an art recycle project for art classes at schools for possible event. . 5.0 ADJOURNMENT ng adjourned at 7:10 p.m. Christopher Be on, Chair an Danny Dill, Record' g Secretary
