LONY LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES

The Regular Session of the Library Board of the City of The Colony, Texas, was called to order at 7:02
p.m. on the 27th day of July 2023 at City Hall, 6800 Main Street, The Colony, Texas, with the following
roll call:

1.0 ROUTINE ANNOUNCEMENTS, RECOGNITIONS AND PROCLAMATIONS
1.1 Introduce new Place 2 Library Board member.
Director Charters introduced Dr. Cynthia Worthen to the Board. Member Worthen has a Ph.D. in
Education and moved to The Colony in 2019. The Board introduced themselves and welcomed the
new member.
2.0 CITIZEN INPUT
This portion of the meeting is to allow up to five (5) minutes per speaker with a maximum of
thirty (30) minutes for items not posted on the current agenda. The board may not discuss these
items, but may respond with factual data or policy information, or place the item on a ficture
agenda. Those wishing to speak shall submit a Request Form to the board secretary.
No report.
3.0 CONSENT AGENDA
The Consent Agenda contains items which are routine in nature and will be acted upon in one
motion. Items may be removed from this agenda for separate discussion by a board member.
3.1 Consider approval of minutes of Library Board meeting held June 22, 2023.
The Board reviewed the minutes. Motion to approve the above consent agenda item — Davis,°
second by Krueger; motion passed with all ayes.

4.4 Receive a presentation and discuss staff updates regarding public relations events, programs,
services, and community partnerships.
Director Charters introduced a new TCPL resource called PressReader. PressReader allows
library patrons to browse more than 7, 000 publications from 120 countries in 60 different
languages, including daily digital replica access to The Dallas Morning News.
Director Charters also reviewed upcoming events and programs at TCPL, including Early Literacy
programs such as Sensory Play; Family activities and programs, including Family Movie Matinee,
Creature Teacher Animal Show, Paint Party Family Kit, and TCPL's first ever Puzzle Tournament, -
and Adult activities, including Virtual Author Talks, Monthly Online Book Club, NASA Psyche
Mission, Business Resources Series, and the Medicare Education Seminar.
Lastly, Director Charters made the Board aware of the efforts The Colony's Local History
Committee is making toward documenting the city's history and invited Board members to attend
the August 9th meeting.
4.5 Receive a presentation and discuss updates regarding Friends of The Colony Public Library activities.
The Friends o_f The Colony meeting is Thursday, August 10th at 6: 00pm in the Library Conference
Room.
5.0 ADJOURNMENT
And with no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned at 7:44 p.m.
