OF THE
CITY OF THE COLONY
FEBRUARY 15, 2001
A REGULAR SESSION of the Library Board of the City of The Colony, Texas, was called
to order by Chair Parks at 7:10 p.m.

1. Citizens input.
None.
2. Consideration and approval of the minutes of the Board meeting held January 25,
2001.
The minutes were approved as presented.
3. Library Director's Report:
a. Status report re: new library facility.
Rain has revealed new leaks in the roof, leaking into the Director's office. The City
crew will be working in the building this Saturday to resolve the problem with old drains
in which the packing has sunk under the carpet. The Sign-A-Stacks have been
installed; some adjustments and corrections need to be made. Director Sveinsson is
working on creating and installing the inserts showing the range. The Friends of The
Colony Public Library and the City of The Colony Employee Association have donated
a SigmA~Stack in honor of Darrell Herzig, whose wife and daughter are employed with
the Library. Interim City Manager Patti Hicks has arranged for a Library sign to be
installed above the front door of the Library.
b. Status report re: grant projects:
No report.
c. Status report re: operations:
The CD-ROM's have been released into circulation. The Library will host an
investment seminar every Wednesday evening next month. During Spring Break, a
puppet workshop will be held on Wednesday, March 14th, at 2:00 p.m. Effective
immediately, the door between the public area and Technical Services will be kept
locked.
d.Update re: Friends of the Library activities:
FOTCPL President Clark has picked up the Wal-Mart grant check. The next
book sale will be held on Saturday, March 3rd; the Sign-A-Stack sponsors will be --
invited to come "proof read" their signs that afternoon. The annual business
meeting, potluck dinner, and murder mystery will be held in the Library on the
evening of Saturday, April 28th. On June 2nd, a book sale will be held, as will be
the McDonalds Pancake Breakfast fundraiser.
e. Long range planning:
No report.
Due to many scheduling conflicts in March (Texas Library Association Conference,
Spring Breaks, and vacations), there will be no Library Board meeting in March; the
next meeting will be on April 26th,
The meeting adjourned at 7:33 p.m.
