HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/26/2011 KTCBMINUTES CITY OF THE COLONY KEEP THE COLONY BEAUTIFUL BOARD MAY 26, 2011 After determining that a quorum was present, the Keep The Colony Beautiful Board of the City of The Colony, Texas convened into a regular session which was held on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located in City Hall, 6800 Main Street, The Colony, Texas, at which time the following items were addressed: Board Members Present: Linda Van Vranken, Ruby Lawrence, Joe Zacha, Richard Kuether and Alan Ladd. Present from Staff: Iris Browder, Joe Perez and Terry Gilman. MEETING TO ORDER Chairman Van Vranken called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm. 2.0 1 CITIZEN INPUT No citizen input. 3.0 1 MINUTES No minutes to approve. First meeting for Keep The Colony Beautiful. 4.0 1 DISCUSSION 4.1 Discuss appointment of Chair and Vice Chair. Chairman Kuether made a motion to keep the Chair and Vice Chair the same as those that are appointed to the Community Image Advisory Board. The motion was seconded by Chairman Zacha. Motion carried 5-0. 4.2 Receive presentation from Terry Gilman regarding the April 16, 2011 citywide cleanup. Mr. Gilman provided the board with an overview of the spring cleanup including the outcome and services provided. He stated that the cleanup had an above average turnout and that there were 500 plus vehicles within the four hours timeframe that came through the line and that they stayed open an hour later to accommodate all vehicles. They collected 149 tons of bulky trash, 14,800 pounds of electronics and miscellaneous items were recycled, 10 tons of green waste and 20 appliances in which Freon was removed. Board Member Kuether asked what the overall cost was for the cleanup. Mr. Gilman stated that the estimated value of the cleanup was approximately $25,000 for Allied, which includes disposal and staff, but the cities input to that is $2,000 to $3,000. The Board stated that the cleanup is a good program and proved to be an overall success. Meeting adjourned at 6:50 p.m. Li da Van Vranken, Chairman 41srowder, Recording Secretary
