MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE TECHNOLOGIES BOARD
HELD ON
December 2, 2014
The Regular Session of the TECHNOLOGIES BOARD of The Colony, Texas was called
to order at 6:32 pm on the 3rd of November, 2014 at CITY HALL, in the City Managers
Conference Room, City Hall, 6800 MAIN STREET, THE COLONY, TEXAS, with the
following roll call:

With four out of five members present a quorum was established and the following items
were discussed.

2.1 Acceptance of Technologies Board Minutes for a meeting held on November
3, 2014.

4.1 Receive presentation from Farr Systems regarding IT Sourcing.

Farr with Farr Systems gave an overview of the process
Farr Systems would use to develop an RFP for IT Sourcing for the City of The
Colony.
4.2 Review and discuss the active gun fire detection technologies. (Martinez)
Mr. Martinez said he brought this Technology to the Board because he thought it
was a good idea and new technology that the Board should look at for the local
schools. It was decided that this is a great Technology but the City would not be
responsible for placing these in schools as they are run by the local district.
4.3 Receive presentation from Taser representative and discuss a need for an all-
digital Taser with back -end software. (Coulon)
Police Chief Coulon explained the reason for bringing this item to the Technology
Board was to demonstrate the product and new technology as he will have this as
a Capital request in the next budget year, Dave Munson with Taser went over the
new Taser technology and the Tasers that the Police Department is currently
using.
4.4 Discuss future technologies for possible use by The Colony police
department. (Coulon)
Chief Coulon brought up body cameras and the imminent need for them. He said
the Legislature is poised to make a ruling on mandating them in the near future
and the Police Department will have to supply them to all officers. Chief Coulon
proposed that when the need arises to purchase body cameras the City should
purchase cameras that are compatible with the current dash cameras for cost
savings and ease of integration.
