HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/28/2014 KTCB MINUTES CITY OF THE COLONY KEEP THE COLONY BEAUTIFUL BOARD AUGUST 28,2014 After determining that a quorum was present,the Keep The Colony Beautiful Board of the City of The Colony, Texas convened into a regular session which was held on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located in City Hall, 6800 Main Street, The Colony, Texas, at which time the following items will be addressed: Board Members Present: Linda Van Vranken,Dale Brewer,Roger Morehouse, and Mary Ann Evans Board Members Absent: Janece Pool, Jatun Thompson, and Debra Picket Staff Members Present: Iris Browder; Community Image Manager and Prakash Abraham; Neighborhood Enhancement Officer 1.0 CALL MEETING TO ORDER Meeting was called to order at 6:32 pm. 2.0 CITIZEN INPUT No citizen input. 3.0 MINUTES 3.1 Motion to approve the minutes was made by Board Member Morehouse, and seconded by Board Member Brewer. (Motion passed 3-0) 4.0 DISCUSSION/CONSIDERATION 4.1 Election of vice chairman and secretary Item tabled till next meeting. 4.2 Board to provide direction to staff regarding future agenda items. Staff informed the board of the Make a Difference Day projects which will be held on October 25th, 2014. Board Member Brewer asked about qualifications needed for the Volunteer Assistance Program (VAP). Mr. Abraham provided the Board with a brief overview of the requirements in order to participate in the program. Ms. Browder asked the Board if there were additional programs and/or ideas for the upcoming year that KTCB would like to participate in. The Board recommended that they continue the information sessions provided by Donna Cole. The sessions would include the presentation on Trees & Wildscape (draught resistant) classes. They would also like include the Nature Walk informational class that is also taught by Donna Cole. The Board also requested that they would like to learn about any opportunities to participate in the Landscape planning alongside FM 423. Staff confirmed the project is headed up TX Dot and plans have been approved already. Staff will try to provide a copy of the approved landscape plans for the project & bring it to the next meeting. The Board would like to learn more about the KTCB Emblem/Logo, Slogan, promotional items such as T-Shirts for events, promotion of any future events.
