MINUTES OF COUNCIL WORK SESSION
HELD ON
JULY 1, 2014
The Joint Work Session of the Joint City Council and Community Development
Corporation of the City of The Colony, Texas, was called to order at 6:11 p.m. on the 1st
day of July, 2014, at City Hall, 6800 Main Street, The Colony, Texas, with the following roll
call:

And with four (4) Councilmembers present and six (6) Community Development Corporation
members present, a quorum was established and the following items were addressed:
1. Call to Order
• City Council —Mayor called to order at 6:11 p.m.
• Community Development Corporation —Called to order at 6:11 p.m.
2. Receive presentation from consultant and discuss various concepts for the Veteran's
Memorial Master Plan, funding and timeline for the project, and provide direction to staff
on proceeding with the project.
Project Consultant David Buchanan with Haff and Associates, presented three (3)
Conceptual Plans (A A Q for a Veteran's Memorial Master Plan asking for direction to
help decide which plan works best. Mr. Buchanan addressed questions from the City
Council, the Community Development Corporation and local Veterans regarding
structure materials, height, female veteran recognition, restroom facilities, flags, water
features, pond location, amphitheater location, lighting, seating, parking and shade
structures.
After discussion, City Council and Community Development Corporation agreed to
direct staff to remove Concept A and consider combining portions of Concept B and
portions of Concept C and present a new Concept Plan at afuture meeting.

3. Discuss possible date for additional work session to discuss the budget for FY 2014-15
and upcoming projects (Nelson)
The City Council and Community Development Corporation set a work session date of
August 14, 2014, to discuss the budget and upcoming projects.
4. Adjourn

There being no further business to discuss, the Community Development Corporation meeting
was adjourned at 7:04 p. m, and the City Council meeting adjourned at 7: 05 p, m.
