OF THE
CITY OF THE COLONY
MARCH 18, 1999
A REGULAR SESSION of the Library Board of the City of The Colony, Texas, was called
to order by Chair Bullard at 7:00 p.m.

1. Citizen's Input.
1.1 None.
2. The minutes of the February 25, 1999 meeting were approved. Consideration of
approval of minutes of the board meetings held April 23, 1998, April 30, 1998, May 23,
1998, July 23, 1998, and August 27, 1998 was tabled.
3. Reports:
3.1. Chairman
Chair Bullard and Director Sveinsson toured sites of potential consultant's work
with the 4B board on March 6, 1999. Lorraine Clark and Sue Parks attended the
question and answer session with the top four consultants on March 11, 1999.
Director Sveinsson and Vice-Chair Sue Parks will be serving on the 4B contract
negotiating team.
3.2. NTRLS System Representative
None.
3.3. Library Director:
· The Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund Board has approved the Library's
grant application for $74,894 to expand and upgrade the Library's internet
access network. The librarian staff is attending workshops provided by the TIF
Board.
· The Library's application for a Texas Book Festival Award has been approved;
the $2,500 will be used for print materials. The award will be announced at the
Texas Library Association Annual Conference.
· Two juvenile height tables have been donated to the Library via an Eagle Scout
project; the tables were presented to the Library on March 16th.
· Karen McCuiston will be serving as the Library's summer Circulation Clerk this
year.
· The volunteer recognition luncheon sponsored by the Friends of the Library and
coordinated by Circulation Supervisor Alice Collins was very well received. The
event was catered this year. A 15-year service award was presented to Joan
Pesko and the Friend of the Year award was presented to Mary Walls.
· Board Members were asked to note the following dates:
· Meeting dates for April, May & June: April 15, May 27 and June 17th.
· TLA April 20-23r~; exhibit passes: $10 good for all three days; sold on-site
only.
· Friends of the Library annual meeting, potluck dinner, and murder mystery;
Saturday, April 24th at the Library.
3.4. Other members:
· None.
The meeting adjourned at 7:13 so the members could attend a 4B meeting at City Hall.
