A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE

VETERANS ADMINISTRATION IN ORDER TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE

EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, The United States Inspector General's interim report on patient wait times,
scheduling practices, and alleged patient deaths at Phoenix Health Care System and the

that must be addressed immediately; and
WHEREAS, reform of the Veterans' Administration Health Care System is necessary to
correct inadequacies within the system in order to support Veterans' Health Care; and

the gap between a growing number of veterans returning home to seek care and the number
of health care professionals able to deliver it; and

establishing new Veterans' Health Care facilities, and by providing for a method by which
those needing immediate care are able to seek interim services at a private institution; and
WHEREAS, reform should include funding necessary to address long-term issues such as
personnel training, and support services such as investing in technologically advanced
medical equipment and updated scheduling software.
