HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/25/2013 KTCB MINUTES CITY OF THE COLONY KEEP THE COLONY BEAUTIFUL BOARD JULY 25, 2013 After determining that a quorum was present, the Keep The Colony Beautiful Board of the City of The Colony, Texas convened into a regular session which was held on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located in City Hall, 6800 Main Street, The Colony, Texas, at which time the following items were addressed: Staff Present: Iris Browder, Joe Perez Board Members Present: Linda Van Vranken, Peggy Chenault, Joe Zacha, and Roger Morehouse. 1.0 CALL MEETING TO ORDER Meeting was called to order by Chairman Van Vranken at 7:00 pm 2.0 CITIZEN INPUT No citizen input. 3.0 MINUTES 3.1 Approve minutes from the April 25, 2013 meeting. Motion was made by Board Member Zacha to approve the minutes as written. Motion was seconded by Vice Chairman Chenault. Motion carried (4-0). 4.0 DISCUSSION/CONSIDERATION 4.1 Receive an update regarding completed volunteer projects. (Joe Perez) Mr. Perez provided the board with a mid-year Volunteer Project update. The update outlined the 8 projects completed by the Lakeway Baptist youth group. All the work was completed during the week of 26-30t". Project 1: 7508 Lakeland A shed was removed from the property. There was no material cost used on this project. Five (5) volunteers helped on this project and worked five (5) hour days. Project 2: 5412 N. Colony Five (5) volunteers helped on this project. While volunteers were there if they saw something else that could have been a potential violation in the future, they took care of it then. Project 3: 4828 Wheeler The fence was replaced on the property. There was no material cost used on this project. The homeowner purchased the materials for the entire fence. Five (5) volunteers helped on this project and worked all week to complete the fence. Project 4: 5001 N. Colony Repaired rotted soffits and painted the exterior of the home. Material cost for project was $200. Five (5) volunteers helped with this project. Project 5: 5225 Slay Some of the fence sections were replaced along with cleaning up vegetation and yard work. Homeowner helped with some of the cost of the material and the Volunteer Assistance Program contributed $200. Five (5) volunteers helped with this project. Project 6: 4233 Driscoll Fence sections replaced along with repairing the gate. Material cost for the project was $50. Three (3) volunteers worked on this project. Project 7: 5161 Ragan Repaired damaged soffits and painted areas of the home. Material cost for the project was $200. Five (5) volunteers worked on this project. Project 8: 5265 Ragan Repaired soffits and painted areas of the home. Material cost for the project was $200. Five (5) volunteers worked on this project. Vice Chairman Chenault asked if the City Council send out thank you notes to the volunteers. Mr. Perez sated that yes and they also get recognized at a City Council meeting. 4.2 Discuss outcome of Wildscaping class and the possibility of holding future classes. (Linda Van Vranken) Chairman Van Vranken discussed the outcome of the Wildscaping class and what a great turnout we had. Most of the people she talked to were enthusiastic about the class. She proposed to the board about hosting a rain barrel class on September 26tH. Board Member Morehouse has done some research and is looking to make sure what is done is within the HOA regulations. 2 Chairman Van Vranken knows of a company that wants to donate the fittings and they will be at the class to help. Also, there is someone from AG Life that will be on hand to help at no cost to the city. Board Member Morehouse asked if there was a way to set up a rain barrel to demonstrate to residents and put it on display. Staff said they would look into it, but it shouldn't be a problem. Chairman Van Vranken said she would do some additional research on what will be required. She said the class would be limited to fourteen (14) or fifteen (15) people and an RSVP would be required. The Board was in agreement that this is something they want to move forward on. Meeting adjourned at 7:40pm Linda Van Vranken, Chairman Iris Browder, Recording Secretary 3
