CITY OF THE COLONY
SIGN BOARD OF APPEALS
October 17, 2012
After determining that a quorum was present, the Sign Board of Appeals of the City of The
Colony, Texas convened into Regular Session which was held on Wednesday, October 17, 2012
at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located in City Hall, 6800 Main Street, The Colony,
Texas, at which time the following items were addressed:
Board Members Present: Constance Yahwak, Chairperson; Lloyd Martin, Vice-Chair; Donna
McCright, Gerald Odum and Charles Tredo.
Board Members Absent: None.
Present from Staff. J. Michael Joyce, AICP, Development Services Director; Brooks Wilson,
AICP, Senior Planner; Brian McNuelty, Recording Secretary; Ed Voss, City Attorney; and David
Terre, City Councilman and Sign Board Liaison.
1.0 CALL REGULAR SESSION TO ORDER
Chairperson Yahwak called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
2.0 CONSENT AGENDA
2.1 Consider approval of the minutes of the regular session of the November 16, 2011
meeting of the Sign Board of Appeals.
It was moved by Board Member McCright to approve Item 2.1 as presented; seconded by
Board Member Martin. Motion carried (5-0).
3.0 ITEM FOR CONSIDERATION
SI12-0020 -Sign Ordinance Amendment - Feather Signs. Conduct a public meeting,
3.1 discuss, and consider making a recommendation to the City Council regarding an
ordinance amending Article XI, Signs, of Chapter 6 of the Code of Ordinances by
revising subsection 6-2610), entitled "Feather Signs."
Ms. Wilson presented staff report.
The Board agreed that the feather signs were more aesthetically pleasing than banners.
Chairperson Yahwak opened the Public Hearing. No one came forward. Chairperson Yahwak
closed the Public Hearing.
It was moved by Board Member McCright to approve Item 3.1 as presented; seconded by
Board Member Odum. Motion carried (5-0).
