CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS
RESOLUTION NO. 2012- U_J'
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS,
DESIGNATING THE COLONY COURIER-LEADER AS THE
OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER FOR THE CITY; AUTHORIZING THE
DENTON RECORD CHRONICLE AS AN ALTERNATE
ADVERTISING SOURCE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the Texas Local Government Code, Section 52.004, requires the
governing body of a municipality to annually designate a public newspaper of the city as
the official newspaper for official publications; and
WHEREAS, The Colony City Council finds that the Colony Courier-Leader is a
publication that meets the criteria legally required of an officially designated newspaper
as follows:
(1) Devotes not less than 25% of its total column lineage to general interest items;
(2) Is published at least once a week;
(3) Is entered as 2°d class postal matter in the county where published; and
(4) Has been published regularly and continuously for at least 12 months.
WHEREAS, in the event the City requirement for advertising deadline cannot be
met with The Colony Courier-Leader, the Denton Record Chronicle, which meets the
criteria for official publications as set out in the Texas Local Government Code, may be
used as an alternate advertising source for official publications.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas hereby
designates the Colony Courier-Leader as the official newspaper for publication of
ordinances, notices and other matters required by the state law.
Section 2. That the Denton Record Chronicle may be used as an alternate
advertising source for official publications.
Section 32-. That this resolution remains effective for the fiscal year beginning
October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2013.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of The Colony,
Texas, this 2nd day of October, 2012.
