HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/15/2012 CAB August 15, 2012 The Colony Community Center, 7:06 pm CITY OF THE COLONY DENTON COUNTY, TEXAS MINUTES OF THE CULTURAL ARTS BOARD OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY August 15, 2012 A SPECIAL SESSION of the Cultural Arts Board of the City of The Colony was called to order by Chair Costa at 7:06 pm. PRESENT: Robert Bourbon Place 1 Liz Ripperger Place 2 Donna Arnold Place 3 Gail Kasek Place 4 Joan Lux Place 5 Kathy Costa Place 6 Casey Kidwell Place 7 1. Call to Order Chair Costa called the meeting to order at 7:06 pill. 2. Discussion and consideration of events for 2013. a. Art Quest Board member Lux gave an update on this event stating that she is continuing to secure locations to exhibit art. No action. b. Jammin' in the Park Board member Ripperger gave an update on this event confirming the date, time, location and performer. Board member Arnold discussed the option of purchasing a canopy for this event. Staff was directed to add an item for the next Cultural Arts Board meeting for discussion and consideration of the purchase of a canopy for the Cultural Arts Board events. No action. c. Holiday Choir Board member Bourbon gave an update on this event stating that he will set up a meeting with the choir director. No action. d. Film Festival Staff informed the board that all documents for this event have been reviewed and approved by the city attorney. The board discussed the different logos presented for this event. A motion was made by board member Arnold to approve using one of the logos presented. A second was made by board member Lux. Unanimously approved. e. Pirate Days Board member Ripperger informed the board that Pirate Days will not take place this current year. No action. f. Senior Citizen Pantomime Event The board discussed the progress of this event in conjunction with the Senior Citizens of The Colony. No action. 1 August 15, 2012 The Colony Community Center, 7:06 pm 3. Discussion with Staff and Council Liaisons regarding event procedures. (Costa) Staff updated board on acceptable methods of payment for submission fees related to the film festival event. The board directed staff to investigate proper procedure for accepting payment in regards to the sale of items possibly made available in the future. No action. 4. Discussion on interim guidelines for a Public Art Policy. (Costa) Chair Costa gave report to the board that a call to art will take place for Kids Colony 2. 5. Discussion and consideration of possible collaboration with Pirate Days for Fiscal Year 2014. (Costa) Board member Ripperger gave a report to the board that Pirate Days is currently considering sponsorships. Chair Costa formed a Pirate Days and Cultural Arts Board Collaboration Committee and appointed herself and board members Lux and Arnold to serve on the committee. 6.
