1. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
2. CITIZEN'S INPUT -
Christi Martin, 5604 Longhorn, The Colony - She invited the board members to attend The Colony Playhouse
production of "The Emperor's New Clothes She does not directly participate in this group, but she does
support them. They have been struggling for rehearsal space for the last 3 years. This board works hard to
provide spaces for recreational needs, even for the dogs of the community. There is a need for these kids to
have something. Their parents have to scrape to afford to rent rehearsal space, and even though they are
getting a much reduced rate at their current location, it is still about.four times the rate the other group pays
to use city facilities. There is an empty building beside City Hall that would be sufficient. She would like this
board to consider that when providing for spaces for people of the community.
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JUNE 14TH 2012-
Motion to approve the minutes of June 14`" - Sohn; second - Braby; abstain - Beckel; motion passes.

community and clean up this area. They will commit to the level one adoption which is regular clean-ups at
the park and will do this for one year; they have already started the clean-ups.
Motion to approve the proposal from Ladybug Strategies to sponsor BB Owen Park pond through the Adopt-
A-Park program - Leary; second Perez; motion passes with all ayes.

Pam told the board we have a final design and a cost estimate breakdown for the structures; now we can start
developing sponsorship levels. We are continuing name board sales and there was a suggestion made to start
selling the name boards at City Hall during the day or on the night of City Council meetings. The order
forms will also be sent to schools for distribution.
The tentative community build day of Nov. 3`1 will remain. Fundraising can continue through this date and
having a set date scheduled will help with grant writing.
6. DISCUSSION OF GRAND OPENING EVENT FOR DAVE COWAN PARK -
The playground is done. The hot dog cook-out and grand opening event will be on Friday, July 20'x', 6:00pm
- 7: 30pm with the ribbon cutting at 6: 30pm.

FINANCIAL STATEMENTS - The board reviewed the statements and had no comments. Sales tax was
up.
9-11 MEMORIAL - We are in negotiations with the consultant and were supposed to get a proposal today.
We will continue to push to get this project done as soon as possible.
CARR/CHAPMAN PARK, FRIENDSHIP PARK IMPROVEMENTS - The contractor is going to start
moving dirt at both parks tomorrow. We are working with the Engineering department to get dirt donated
from other city projects.
MOSQUITO MANAGEMENT - Jerry Young, Chemical Applicator for the city, and Patrick Prather with
RidAll Pest Control who does mosquito management for the city, held a seminar about mosquitoes last night
and they were also interviewed on the Channel 8 news. Patrick complimented the city on its pro-active
approach to mosquito management, as many cities don't do this. The city monitors and tests areas, and
through these efforts have found 2 locations where the mosquitoes tested positive for west nile virus - the
drainage channels by the Aquatic Park and Hawaiian Falls at Paige & Worley. Spraying will take place in
these areas Saturday 7114 - Monday 7116 between 9PMand ]AM. Fogging is not a very effective treatment,
but treating areas of standing water is. If you see areas of standing water, this should be reported to Code
Enforcement. We may do another seminar.
SUMMER CINEMA CLUBHOUSE - There was a movie shown today, the next movie is on Thursday,
August 9"' and it will be "The Muppets The movie starts at 1:00 at the Rec. Center and is free.
