1. CONSIDERATION OF APPROVAL OF AWARDING BID FOR CONSTRUCTION
OF THE COLONY FIVE STAR COMPLEX -
Pam informed everyone that the bids came in better than anticipated, therefore we may be
able to do more in the first phase than we originally thought. The low bid is $5,357,000
from Adolfson & Peterson and the alternates total $997,000. Added together it is
$6,354,000. Dennis's office has done a reference check on Adolfson & Peterson and they
look very good. Their web site showed they had over 300 million dollars in business last
year. They have a supplier's credit line of over $1,000,000. The people who are doing our
shade structures have also worked with them. They have offices in Denver, Minnesota and
in Wisconsin and are new to Texas. They have an office in Addison and have done a lot of
work for municipalities. They are currently doing a project in Grand Prairie, and the city
officials in Grand Prairie are very pleased with them. The Grand Prairie Director has told
us they adhere to timelines and require change orders when needed.
John made a motion to approve awarding the bid for construction of The Colony Five Star
to Adolfson & Peterson with the base bid of $5,357,000 and to include alternates 1 - 14 in
the amount of $997,000 for a total of $6,354,000. Sue seconded the motion. The motion
carried.
John, Park Board member, made a motion to support the 4B approval of Adolfson &
Peterson for construction of The Colony Five Star Complex. Rich seconded the motion.
The motion carried.
2. CONSIDERATION OF APPROVAL OF AWARDING BID FOR CONSTRUCTION
OF SIDEWALKS AT LIONS CLUB PARK AND PERRYMAN PARK -
Pam informed everyone that ADA sidewalks are going to be put in at these parks. The
funds are coming from the $130,000 allocated last year. We want to do the sidewalks
before we do the irrigation improvements. The low bid was Century Services from Fort
Worth. We have talked to some of their references and gotten good feedback from them,
but we are waiting to hear from some other references also. Sam will be calling them to
request a financial statement and a history of their company. The bid was $36,900. We
would also like to award this bid at the February 4"' City Council meeting.
Susan made a motion to approve the bid received from Century Services for the
construction of sidewalks at Lions Club Park and Perryman Park contingent on references.
John seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Jim, Park Board member, made a motion to support the 4B Board's award of the bid to
Century Services contingent on the references. Lisa seconded the motion. The motion
carried.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
