DISCUSSION AND CONSIDERATION OF THE NAME AND THEME FOR THE COMMUNITY COMPLEX. Pam informed everyone that a name and a theme needs to be decided upon tonight because the deadline for the grant to be submitted is January 31 st. Any elements that are unique to the park will help us score points in the grant application. It is beneficial if we can present the entire concept in the grant application. When the grant application is being reviewed, you want the people reviewing the grant to be able to visualize what you're intending to build and how you will build it. John distributed an idea for the theme he thought of He suggested the name Texas Legends Park in The Colony and a historical or heritage theme to be used throughout the park. Pam expressed her concern that many residents may think the name is for the Legends housing development and the park is being build especially for those residents in that development. David expressed his concern that because this theme may require alot of statues and plaques, it may not be financially feasible to produce this theme. Susan stated that the 4B Board has previously discussed using 2%-5% of the annual revenue towards public artwork. The idea of corporate sponsorship was also expressed. It was decided to pursue that aspect after the name of the park is decided. Names that were suggested included ~ The Colony Complex, The Colony Civic Center, The Colony Community Complex, The Colony Community Center, Texas Legacy Park, Hero Park, Texas Heritage Community Complex, Texas Legacy Community Complex, Texas Heritage Park, The Colony Heritage Complex, Texas Heritage Park & Complex, Texas Heritage Community Complex, Texas Heritage, and Texas Heritage in The Colony.
